The application of robotic technology to service, entertainment, medicine, training, and other fields of the social life constitutes a leading and important research area. More specifically, it may be observed that the possibilities given by robotic devices in the medical field, and in particular for helping impaired persons, is really a relevant research issue for the robotic community. In this broad framework, this paper presents the final part of a three-year interdisciplinary activity devoted to the development and experimentation of a haptic device for blind persons. After a brief description of the system, laboratory activities for the evaluation of one of the developed prototypes are presented and discussed.
